The action of the cutting wheel automatically draws
the material in, and is broken up by cutting and crushing, enabling it to rot
more easily. The collecting box fulfils an important additional function. It is
not only storage space for the shredded materials but it also forms a safety
factor because it protects the discharge opening from access. Therefore, no-one
can accidentally reach into the cutting mechanism from underneath while it is
operating. If the box is removed, the unit switches off immediately.
